New York—April 23, 2013, www.AfroLatinos.tv will launch UN LLAMADO Y RESPUESTA! A CALL & RESPONSE! Afrolatinos is kicking off its 60K in 60 Days campaign on indiegogo and its petition on change.org.
There are an estimated 150 million afro-descendants in Latin America, many of which do not have political or economic power. This documentary television series aims to educate, raise consciousness and initiate social change for this community of people.
Afrolatinos: The Untaught Story is an ambitious project that focuses on all 21 countries throughout Latin America (Central America, South America, Caribbean, Haiti and Brazil). The goal is to bring this story into Elementary Schools, High Schools, and Universities. Their mission is about including this story in textbooks and curriculums so that young children of African descent learn about who they are and where they come from.
The Afrolatinos 60k in 60 Days indiegogo campaign is to help cross the finish line in production and bring the stories of millions of afro-descendants in Latin America to the world. Afrolatinos: The Untaught Story has been a self funded project by the producers of the film with no grants or outside funding. They have gone as far as they can on their own and now asking their community for support. Not only is it the funds for the documentary that are needed an outlet for the voices of Afrolatinos to be seen on television.
Afro-Latinos: The Untaught Story is a documentary television series independently produced by Creador Pictures, LLC. The film will be a seven part series covering segments such as: History, Language, Religion, Food, Identity, Art, Music and Social Issues.
There are an estimated 200 million Afro-descendants throughout Latin America; yet the majority, have no political or economic power. Afro-Latinos: The Untaught Story will take you on a journey to meet Afro- Latinos throughout Spanish and Portuguese speaking nations of Central and South America and the Caribbean. It is the story of a shared history not found in textbooks. This film gives a voice to communities who have been invisible until now.
