“Until I am free to write bilingually and to switch codes without having always to translate, while I still have to speak English or Spanish when I would rather speak Spanglish, and as long as I have to accommodate the English speakers rather than having them accommodate me, my tongue will be illegitimate. I will no longer be made to feel ashamed of existing. I will have my voice: Indian, Spanish, white. I will have my serpent’s tongue – my woman’s voice, my sexual voice, my poet’s voice. I will overcome the tradition of silence.”
Gloria E. Anzaldúa
Today I am grateful for the daily commute. Some days are odd and filled with crazy weird experiences. Other days are a spiritual experience where you see, messengers, healers, guardians, ands Gods/Goddesses face to face.
Today I am grateful for reaching goals. It feels pretty great to be accomplishing things.
Today I am grateful for thoughts. Thoughts become ideas. Ideas become words. Words become sentences. Sentences become stories. And my stories are what I will leave behind.
Today I am grateful for time. Time does not stand still. Its constantly moving. And I’m constantly trying to catch up.
Today I am grateful for the ability to express and feel emotions. Vulnerability and love are my greatest qualities.
Today I tag the five I’m grateful for: meriam, jelisa, Dorothy, glendaliz, pilar
