Day 86: Everything In Our Story Happens For A Reason #dearagent #wewrite

Day 13 of Agent Search:

Dear Agent;

Today I am having a rough day. I am pushing myself to come to the page. It’s much easier to turn on the TV and watch Supernatural all day. My neck is tense. I have a slight headache. But I am here. I am present. I am writing! I have shown up to the page.

In my screenwriting class the instructor spoke about EVERYTHING in our stories happening for a reason!

As writers there are things our characters will say and do that will get them to the ending.

What are those things?

Why do our characters say what they say?

Why do they believe what they believe?

Why do they do the things they do?

In my story I am writing about a Haitian woman. I don’t know what it is like to be her, but what I do know is that there are reasons she feels the way she does for other characters in the story. There is a reason for her journey. There are lessons she must learn.

Today I will explore what they are… and answer the why’s…

Writing goals for today — working on Parsley and studying my craft.

I WORK! I WRITE! I STAY WITH IT! EVERYDAY I WRITE! AND I AM REMEMBERING TO SLOW DOWN!

Writing Prompt:

(1) What is it like to be you? Why do you say the things you say? What are the lessons you will learn? Who shows up in your life? (Ask of your story, character, scenes, symbols or themes every question you would ask about their motivation and intention. What do we want to say?) Set timer for (1 hour)

Check in later. Happy writing! Wishing you all an amazing day!

With love,
