Pulling from On Being a Writer, a book I co-authored with Charity Singleton Craig, we could chat about one or more of the 12 habits that form a sustainable writing life. The chapters may inspire a wide-ranging conversation or you may decide you want to focus on a single habit from the list:
- Identify (I am a writer)
- Arrange (I organize my life—my time, my space, my priorities—so I can write)
- Surround (I surround myself with people, locations, activities, books that will influence my writing)
- Notice (I attend to and record what’s going on around me)
- Write (I sit down and put words to paper)
- Send (I want to publish what I write)
- Promote (I want other people to know I am a writer)
- Discover (When I write, I find myself)
