Should you write about your pain?
The short answer is yes.
But trauma-informed writing means asking deeper questions that take into consideration the reader, your story, and YOU. This workshop will help you understand trauma, re-traumatization, triggers, and whether or not your story is ready to go public.
It's helped me understand myself better and relate to others better
Trauma-informed understanding has helped me transition from a paradigm of “What’s wrong with me?" to “What happened to me?” It's helped me understand myself better and relate to others better, further affirming my identity and purpose on this journey of life.
Alok G., Trauma-informed advocate
By the end of this workshop, you will...
Have an objective understanding of…
trauma, its prevalence, and its effects on the perception and response
of readers and YOU, the writer.
Learn trauma-informed language and principles….
you can begin using and implementing right away.
Discover the steps that move you from…
trauma awareness to trauma sensitivity to trauma-informed.
Receive tools and worksheets…
to help you establish disciplines so you can write, read, and live trauma-informed.
You'll lean into your story to write genuine and life-changing work
that offers readers a glimpse of the human condition through YOUR eyes. Your story of trauma will become a story of transformation, offering hope, insight, and compassion to readers who are hurting and healing.
Note: your name and email will be collected at signup and available to both Ann as host and to Michelle as trainer for communication purposes.
Who is this for?
We’re going to say it — this workshop is for ALL writers, especially...
What to Expect
Once you enroll
Once enrolled, download the reflection worksheet to get you thinking before the workshop. If the workshop raises a question, submit your question to Michelle, our workshop trainer, via email (provided in the materials). Michelle will answer you directly.
Watch the workshop training
Set aside time to watch the training, which is about 90 minutes (Q&A is another 25 minutes). Come curious and open, ready to learn and take notes. You can stop the video and come back later if you don't have time to watch it all at once. All questions that are not answered in the content itself will be answered by Michelle through email.
After the workshop
You'll have another worksheet to use for your growth, which is provided in the materials. You can review the recording as needed so you can continue to absorb this timely content at your own pace. You'll be encouraged to take just one step in two vital areas of your writing life. With your new trauma-informed lens, you’ll be ready to create writing that cares for your reader, your story, and YOU.
I think all writers should take this
I think all writers should take this...We all need the sensitivity training. And for those of us who do write in this space, it's helpful to consider it all more dispassionately so that we may truly be of help/service to others.
