I love this, Ann…and your voice is simply divine.
Ann Kroeker says
Patricia, you’re my first listener (other than family)! Thank you for being here, for listening, for taking time to comment and encourage!
Lane M Arnold says
Hurray for you, Ann. Such fun to hear your voice.
And now…to rise to your challenge…today’s a new day…I think I’ll “Just Get Started.”
Ann Kroeker says
Lane, I look forward to hearing what you started today! Maybe next time we chat?
Laura Brown says
Go, Annie, go!
Ann Kroeker says
🙂
Monica Kaye Snyder says
“Begin the song exactly where you are.” This stuck with me from night one at Laity when Malcolm Guite’s “The Singing Bowl” was read. I look forward to more podcasts! LOVE.
Ann Kroeker says
Excellent–I love seeing the idea continue working its way through, from my thoughts to yours. Thank you for taking time to stop in and listen and then to leave an encouraging comment!!
I wish we’d spent more time together at the retreat. We did not overlap much. 🙁
Dea says
On Being a Writer was sitting on a stool in a swath of morning sun. I saw it waiting for me from the kitchen. I kid you not, I had the thought, “You just need to get started.” (I also thought, I must! I am a volcano about to explode! Ha!) Loved your podcast and the intro music was perfect.
Ann Kroeker says
Dea! That’s quite an image with the sun streaking across the book like some kind of divine affirmation, and then this connection! What will you be starting (other than reading the book!)?
Dea says
So Ann, I know you must have come upon a beaver dam out gallivanting in your RV, yes? Around here, beaver dams are not considered awesome wonders of nature as they should be. Farmers blow them up—with dynamite. Some sneaky beavers have crept into my writing life and made themselves at home. The words are in a tangle of branches stripped bare. I have read the book. Today I am going to the prompts. I will start at the beginning. The beginning seems the logical place to begin again! 🙂
Ann Kroeker says
Aaaaaaa!! [plugs ears and begins humming…] La-la-la-la-la….I’m going to pretend I never read that about the beavers and the dynamite!
However, [unplugs ears] I’m glad you are going to disentangle yourself from metaphorical beavers and their dams, because your work needs to be released so it can flow! The very beginning…a very good place to start. 😉
I’m glad, so glad. I look forward to seeing your writing, Dea!
Laura Brown says
Just get started. Go, Dea, go! (She lives up the road from me and we’ve walked the Big Dam Bridge together.)
SimplyDarlene says
Well, what’s there to say other than:
Yes, ma’am!
Diane W. Bailey says
I love this!! So Excited!
Ann Kroeker says
Thank you, Diane! I’m really glad I got started with it. I think it’ll be a fun way to send out little writing life motivational thoughts.
Jared says
Okay, okay. I’m starting, already!
Ann Kroeker says
I’m cracking the whip, man. Get going! 😉
Trisha Mugo says
Ann! I love this. Everything about it. The message. The music. Your voice. For a second I thought I was listening to NPR!! Can’t wait for the next one.
Ann Kroeker says
Trisha, such a treat to see you here! Wow, if it feels a little NPR, my work here is done.
Marilyn Yocum says
Excellent voice! Excellent topic to begin with!
Ann Kroeker says
Marilyn, thank you for your sweet note! More to come… (planning on weekly).
Kim says
Way to go! You have a great speaking voice. The getting started part is the hardest part when it comes to doing almost anything, isn’t it?
Ann Kroeker says
Yes, from house cleaning to podcasts to essays!
JulieS says
Hmmm, how did you know that I’m intimidated? How did you know that I’m so many things off because I’m questioning the direction and the vision…
Thank you, friend. I love hearing your voice. I takes me back to that tiny room under the stairs at coop.
Ann Kroeker says
Ah, my friend…not sure what you’re intimidated by, but could you just give it a try?
Brenda says
I wholeheartedly agree!! Got started a few months ago and now I’ve almost finished a first draft of a book. Of course, first drafts always stink!! But at least I’m getting started on the start of a very big project.
Your voice is very pretty, by the way. 🙂
Ann Kroeker says
Bravo! When you get that global view of the project it’ll be a long stretch of revision and editing ahead of you, but the challenge of that first draft is often too hard for some people. Congratulations on nearing the finish line of your first draft, no matter how stinky! 🙂
Diana Trautwein says
I LOVE THIS!!!! Ab fab, brilliant, so welcome. And again I ask – let me know your schedule in the new year, okay? I’m committing. I think.
Kristin says
I am so excited about this Ann! And super proud of you – what an encouragement for us all “Just Get Started” I need this reminder daily, as you know. 😉 Thank you for the million ways you pour into me as a coach, editor, and friend. oxxo
Megan Willome says
Finally! You did it! And your voice is lovely. 🙂
